04.11.2008, 18:21 12

Construction materials manufacturer Siceram in Sighisoara will give up its plans to build an 8 million-euro brick plant due to decline in demand for masonry materials. "We were planning to build a new brick manufacturing plant next year, because we were overwhelmed by demand, but under the current circumstances, we have put off the project for an indefinite date in the future. From the second half of the year, there has been a decline in demand. Now, demand is below that recorded the same time last year and we are operating below capacity," Nicolae Neag, commercial manager of Siceram told ZF. The company forecasts an around 68 million-RON (18.7 million-euro) turnover for this year, up 26% against last year, while the net profit will reach 14 million RON (3.8 million euros), up 15% against the 10 million RON forecast at the beginning of the year. For next year, however, the company expects a turnover stagnation.
