Starting out with quite low investments, but focusing oncorporate clients, the founders of some companies in the field oflinguistic services managed to generate turnovers worth severalhundreds thousand euros after the first year. Diana Dodu set upMedia English Center, a company providing language training andconsultancy for devising training plans in 2008 with initialinvestments of 1,000 euros. In late 2009, the company had reachedturnover worth 650,000 RON (156,000 euros) and this year thefounder expects turnover to rise to 1-1.1m RON (250,000 euros). Thebusiness started with just two employees and it now works with 33collaborators. Dodu plans to expand the major projects the companycarries out at present, create an e-learning platform for foreignlanguages. Another provider of linguistic services and educationaltraining is Euro Educational of Brasov, founded by Razvan Vasilescuin April 2003. Initial investments were aimed at the acquisition ofa printer and a scanner, worth 230 RON. The company's turnoverrevolved around 250,000 euros last year, but estimates for 2010point to growth to a little above 300,000 euros. On short term, thecompany wants to become ISO certified in conference organisation,hire another two persons and acquire simultaneous translationequipment.
