Finnish group Tikkurila, one of the leading varnish and paint producers in Europe, with annual turnover worth 625 million euros, will enter the local market directly through a sales representative office, after a period of operating through TM-Color in the Transylvania area and through Art Deco Poly Delta in Bucharest. "We will make an official announcement in the coming few weeks, regarding our activity on the Romanian market," Tikkurila representatives told ZF. The Finnish company is now seeking three regional sales managers for the South-West, South-East and North-East areas, who will oversee the distribution of decorative paint. Giants on the paint market, such as Akzo Nobel and SigmaKalon have not been successful in their search for an acquisition the local paint market, because the main players are not interested in selling for the time being, due to the high growth rates of the market, by around 20-30%. Tikkurila, which intends to see a strong expansion in Eastern Europe in the coming few years, currently has a stronger position in the central part of Romania, in Mures, Harghita and Covasna counties.
