The largest Romanian distributors of construction materials and DIY products- Galati-based Arabesque, Bacau-based Dedeman and Sibiu-based Ambient, reported similar increases to those posted by foreign DIY networks, i.e. 30-60%. The cumulated turnover of the three big Romanian-held companies reached 874 million euros last year, up by around 46% against the 2006 value. The rise of the constructions sector and the expansion of store networks were last year's growth drivers for Arabesque, Ambient and Dedeman. On a market where international DIY networks, such as Praktiker, Bricostore and BauMax are undergoing full expansion, large Romanian companies are continuing their growth by tapping into foreign markets.
