Tourism authorities don't know how many kilometres of ski slopes Romania has

How many ski slopes Romania has got and which resorts have thebest ski infrastructure are questions that representatives of theMinistry for Regional Development and Tourism led by Elena Udreahave not been able to answer so far, in the context where promotionof domestic tourism is one of the ministry's goals.

ZF sent a request two weeks ago to Ministry representatives withspecific questions, but so far has only received a list ofcertified slopes in Romania.

Agencies that sell skiing holiday packages to Romania are morefamiliar with the length of certified ski slopes in Romania.

"The entire ski domain in Romania is equivalent to one in anAustrian resort (...)," said Mircea Vlad, owner of travel agencyPrestige Tours.

According to information provided by Romanian tourism officials,who say there are 90 slopes in Romania, as well as using dataprovided by operators in the sector and data available on thewebsites of mountain resorts, there are, currently 140-150 km ofmountain slopes in Romania, whereas the French resort of Risoul,for instance, boasts 180 kilometres. Moreover, the Salzburg land inAustria has 22 ski domains with 1,700 kilometres of slopes.
