Whirlpool Romania estimates to post 50 million euro turnover this year, up 30% from 2002. Profit is also expected to progress by more than 15%, while the number of products sold is set to reach 250,000 units. This summer will see Polish Polar brand included in the offer of the Romanian importer, following the takeover of the Poland-based home appliances producer by the American Whirlpool Group. "Three months through the year, which are generally the slowest for business, we sold 30,000 products, so that our turnover grew by more than 25% compared with the same time last year," Mircea Dobre, Whirlpool Romania general manager said. He added the strongest market segments of the company, i.e. washing machines and microwaves are much more seasonal in nature, as hunting season here begins in the fall. Whirlpool's share of the Romanian home appliance market is 20%. The brands it sells on this market are Whirlpool (middle and high-end segment) and Ignis (low-end). ZF
