Private equity and venture capital firm 3TS Capital Partners, one of the largest firms of this kind in Central and Eastern Europe, which manages the funds of the 3i giant in the region, has so far invested over 20 million euros in Romanian companies. "We are quite optimistic regarding the development of our business in Romania. Around a third of our total funds will be directed towards the Romanian market," said Mihai Sfintescu, managing director of 3TS Capital Partners. He estimates local investments will generate a 30% return on investment, with the exit scheduled to take place in 3-4 years' time. Acquisitions made so far by 3TS include a 47% stake in the private medical services provider Centrul Medical Unirea (Unirea Medical Center), and 30% in Romprest Service, a company operating on the facilities management market. The most recent transaction that 3TS has been involved in was the takeover, together with another six investors, of 11.7% of the shares of Romanian software producer Gecad Technologies. The value of this transaction stood at 2 million euros.
