After 5 years' monopoly on Otopeni Airport, Fly Taxi files for insolvency

Taxi operator Fly Taxi, which up until the beginning of thisyear was the only company granted access to the terminals of theOtopeni Airport in Bucharest, has filed for insolvency, with thepetition to be brought before the Bucharest Court of Law at the endof the month.

The company, controlled by businessman Fernando Enciu, wasbrought before justice by companies that requested its insolvencylast year, but the petitions were dismissed by the court. Thecompany was also involved in labour litigations with some of itsemployees. Company representatives could not be contacted by thetime this issue was ready for print. Fly Taxi had, according to thelatest available data, a 2.3 million-euro turnover and 126employees in 2008.

Most Bucharest taxi companies charge an average 1.39 RON/km,whilst the maximum fee amounts to 3.9 RON/km. Fly Taxi charges 3.5RON/km, according to the latest available data.
