Airline operators announce 25 new flights this year

15.02.2009, 18:40 14

Airline operators present on the Romanian market have so far announced the introduction of over 25 flights this year, over 60% of which will depart from provincial cities. Cluj, Timisoara, Bacau, Iasi and Arad are this year targeted by airline operators, which have decided to introduce flights from Romania, despite the international crisis which affected the entire airline industry and was also felt on the Romanian market. Cities in Italy and Spain remain among the top destinations of airline operators, with these countries having so far attracted the largest number of Romanians. This trend is already visible on Bucharest's airports, with 12% of aircraft departing for the two countries, while 70% of flights from Baneasa have the same destinations. The situation is replicated on provincial airports, with Spain and Italy also being prime targets for airline companies (who already have flights to these countries or are introducing such routes).
