The alcoholic drinks division of Alexandrion Group Romania, which makes and sells the Alexandrion brandy, Kreskova vodka and Bellman's gin, reported 1,100 billion ROL (29 million euros) in turnover last year, 63% up from the previous year, when it had logged 700 billion ROL (22 million euros).

"We intend to keep the same growth pace this year," Nawaf Salameh, one of the shareholders and presidents of Alexandrion Goup Romania, told Ziarul Financiar.

According to Salameh, the group acquired the Alexander vodka brand last year from a Greek company operating on the Romanian market. Also, the group is in talks with Pepsi Cola to produce the Ivi natural juices in Romania, which it is currently importing. The group has retained the leading position in the brandy sector, also increasing market share for vodka and gin.

"We are going to launch many new products this year. We aim to provide 70% of what a bar needs," Salameh says.

Alexandrion dedicated a discontinuous distillery late last year to produce the wine distillate, with the plant's annual capacity standing at 15 million litres of wine. "The investment was worth 5 million euros and the plant is the most advanced distillery in the Balkans. We will use raw material, namely wine, from Romania. We have already closed contracts for 50 million litres, the necessary quantity for the next three years," Salameh claims. The distillery is based at the current output capacity Alexandrion holds in Ploiesti, which spreads on 20 hectares. Alexandrion Group Romania has a capacity of 300,000 bottles per day.

According to Salameh, Alexadrion brandy accounted for over 90% of the market last year, when the group also launched two new brandy brands: Alexandrion Royal and Classic. stelian.negrea@zf.ro
