Romanian agriculture will not lose its appeal for foreigninvestors as long as the price of agricultural land stays low, otherwise investors will shift to other countries in the region, says Robert Arsene, general manager of Agricover, one of the mostimportant agricultural groups on the domestic market, with turnoverworth above 150m euros.

"Should agricultural prices rise, investors will move toUkraine or Moldova. (...)," says Robert Arsene, 44, who has beenrunning Agricover since 2007.

Agricover group is held by Iranian investors who also controlProdal '94, the producer of Stalinskaya and Wembley, inRomania.

The area of the agricultural land held by foreigners in Romaniais difficult to calculate as the Agriculture and Rural DevelopmentMinistry does not have such data. The land area leased or owned byRomanian investors can be put at 3-5% of the total agriculturalland, around 300,000 hectares.
