Forcing fiscal authorities employees to obtain from otherinstitutions the documents that taxpayers need, as is the case withgetting the tax offence record from the Trade Registry, is asolution to cut red tape, according to the Association for theReformation of the Tax System (ARSIT).

"The question is how we can efficiently counter civil servants'tendency to constantly boost the number of papers "necessary". Weexpect civil servants will reduce the number of papers when theywill have to get them. The authority must obtain on its own thepapers it needs from other state institutions. This is alreadyhappening when setting up a company, with the Trade Registryobtaining the tax offence record on its own," said FlorinCojocariu, executive manager of ARSIT at the conference to launchthe association.

ARSIT, set up at the end of 2010 by 34 founding members, intendsto create a website with the "heroes" of administrative abuse, cases where justice had its say and cases of wasting public money.
