Autodesk: Romanian market most lucrative in the region

01.04.2008, 21:39 7

US-based Autodesk, which produces design application AutoCAD, derives most of its revenues on the Romanian market from the segment of geospatial information systems (GIS), which aids the design of roads, highways and utility infrastructures (water, gas and electricity). "Romania is the region with the highest growth rate compared with the rest of the CHS region (which comprises Eastern Europe, Russia, the CIS states i.e.)," Daniel Mika, GIS division sales manager of Autodesk told ZF. "Last year we almost doubled our business in this sector and we set out to achieve at least 50% growth rate in the coming years," Mika added without providing exact figures. The company official specified that the main factors to have contributed to the progress of the GIS division business were Romania's accession to the EU and the rapid development of the infrastructure sector. Mika says Autodesk will mainly target infrastructure companies and has a few projects underway. He would not reveal the names of the clients but specified Autodesk had a five-partner network distributing its solutions and was looking for new companies to sign distribution contracts with.
