Autoliv wants to overshoot 300m-euro mark

Autoliv car part producer projects turnover worth 301m euros(1,267m RON) for its two plants of Romania, up 10% from a year ago.In 2009, a milestone for the entire global car industry because ofthe falling demand and new car production, the Swedish group sawits Romanian turnover rise by 70m euros to 275m euros, in the wakeof the transfer of some production contracts from other Europeanfacilities to facilities in Brasov and Lugoj. "(...) Now, with over3,000 people Romania holds the biggest production platform of thegroup," stated Ionel Fierbinteanu, general manager of AutolivRomania. In 2009, even as orders in the car part industry dropped,Autoliv returned into the black, having reported a net income ofalmost 7m euros. For this year, the company's representativesexpect a threefold profit increase to 22.1m euros in parallel witha turnover advance. The company's representatives explained thatthey preferred the Romanian locations owing to productivity andlower wage costs. In the past two years, Autoliv has investedanother 34m euros in Romania and this year budgeted investmentsamount to 13m euros.
