BCR Asigurari de Viata (BCR Life Insurance), a company which is part of the financial group built around the BCR, intends to handle gross underwritten premiums worth 100.8 million RON (28.6 million euros) this year, twice as many as the 50.4 million-RON premiums they conducted last year. "The growth will be sustained by the development of new bancassurance products, which will allow us to access new market segments and continue the development of our territorial network," Florina Vizinteanu, general manager of BCR Asigurari de Viata, told ZF. The life insurance division of the BCR group closed 2006 with a 6.5 million-RON (some 1.8 million-euro) gross profit. "According to estimated data published by insurance companies and to statements made by officials of the Insurance Supervision Commission (CSA) on the total volume of the insurance market, we hold the 8th position in the rankings for life insurance, with a 4.42% share," added Vizinteanu. She added that the company was targeting a 7% market share this year, and wants to position itself among the top five insurers on the market for the next period.
