BCR becomes real estate broker to stimulate loan sales

BCR, the biggest bank on the Romanian market in terms of assets,has become a real estate agent and launched a portal with sale adsfor apartments, houses, and plots of land taken over fromspecialised agents or from various developers.
This is a new attempt by the bank to stimulate sale of mortgageloans through an integrated offer - home, consultancy, loan,insurance, after not even the "First Home" scheme managed to bringtoo many clients over the last few months.
BCR has granted mortgage loans with a cumulated value of 850million euros since the beginning of the year, said {tefanCoroianu, manager of the bank's retail loan division, specifyingthat this segment continued to see a decline against last year,with a potential return to growth expected in the last three monthsof 2010.
Based on partnerships sealed with 170 agencies and 90 real estatedevelopers across Romania - some of which financed by other lendinginstitutions, the bank granted 570 mortgage loans in the first sixmonths of the year, and hopes to reach 2,500 by the end of 2011,partly by promoting home offers on the www.bcrimobilare.roportal.
The newly-launched portal contains around 800 home sale ads,according to Coroianu, with the target being 20,000 ads over thecoming year.
