BCR hopes to double current account sales

28.02.2008, 20:04 9

Banca Commerciala Romana (Romanian Commercial Bank - BCR) estimates it will soon sell 2,000 current account packages per day, i.e. double the current level, according to Martin Skopek, retail executive vice-president of the largest bank on the market. "In order to attain this objective, we recently decided to improve the structure of the package built around the current account by simplifying the sales process and by adding a debit card, BCR Visa Clasic, and co-branded credit cards as options," said Skopek. The bank is also attempting to boost its sales through a direct mail campaign and its Contact Center. The head of retail says the products and services package costs less than if each product were bought separately. It can also be accessed through e-banking and phone-banking services. Electronic payments are 50% cheaper than those made with subsidiaries. Skopek said he originally had higher sales expectations for the new package, which was launched in the summer of 2007 as one of the major components of BCR's retail offer.
