Centrofarm network, a major player in pharmaceutical retail, which currently operates 46 drugstores, will open at least another 20 more by yearend, after the company launched nine in the first half, two less than the initial target. "Among the most difficult stages of this year's expansion, I'd include the delayed opening of some shopping centres, which has blocked some financial and human resources," stated Dorin Catana, Centrofarm general manager. Investments per drugstore range between 100,000 euros and 200,000 euros, so that the overall funds destined to this year's expansion amount to at least 3m euros and will come from the company's own resources. In the wake of scheduled development, the company's number of employees will double to around 800 people. In the first six months of this year, Centrofarm reported turnover worth 50m RON (13.6m euros), up 76% from the figure registered in the same period last year.
