The continued rise of industry in the second quarter of theyear, and the return to growth of agriculture and of financialactivities compensated for the steep decline of constructions andof trade, slowing the economic decline to 0.5% in the secondquarter of the year against the similar period of last year.
The National Statistics Institute stood by its estimate of economicprogression in the second quarter of the year, i.e. a 0.3% riseagainst January-March and a 0.5% decline against the correspondingquarter of 2009.
The industry grew by 5.9% in the second quarter of this yearcompared with the similar period of 2009. Increases were alsorecorded in agriculture ( 0.7%) and in financial, real estate andrental business, and enterprise services ( 0.8%).
On the other hand, the construction sector continued its decline,by 8.3%, with the volume of trade down 4.2%.
