DPD courier expects 35% higher turnover

The first figures reported by couriers show the market isrecovering and this year's forecasts are even more upbeat.
DPD courier (the former Pegasus), controlled by France's GeoPosttogether with Turkey's Yurtici Kargo, ended last year with turnoverworth 29m RON (6.9m euros), up 30% in RON from last year, accordingto the company's officials and ZF calculations.
"The increase came as we expanded collaboration with certain majorclients and contracted new clients, particularly from the field ofe-commerce and from the retail one," stated Sorin Ghinescu, amarketing and corporate manager with DPD, without specifying theclients' names.
As regards income, though, DPD's officials did not disclose itsvalue, but only said the firm stepped into the black after havingposted losses of 2.2m RON (520,000 euros) in 2009, according toTrade Registry data.
DPD will operate further investments this year, earmarking a2m-euro budget to develop IT systems, modernise the hub of Sibiuand the main warehouse of Bucharest, and also promote itsbrand.
"We expect 35% increase in revenues this year. It is difficult toanticipate what will happen in 2011, but we expect a rebound of theeconomy, especially in the second half," Ghinescu said.
