Eight wind farms approved so far in 2011

Eight wind power projects have signed contracts to connect tothe grid since the beginning of the year, with a new giant farmreceiving the green light after the 600-MW project of the Czechs atCEZ - the investment of Spain's Iberdrola, which, after this stageof approval, can start construction work.

According to data of Transelectrica (national energytransmission company), from the beginning of this year untilmid-March, around 1,300-MW wind power projects, equivalent to thecapacity of two nuclear reactors of the Cernavodă power station,had signed contracts to connect to the power grid.

The list of investors includes well-known international giants,as well as local entrepreneurs and developers who are not at theirfirst project in the sector. Of the eight farms that have reachedthis stage of approval, one of the most important in the whole setof approvals necessary, three will be connected to the grid managedby Transelectrica, three to the distribution grid managed by EnelDobrogea, one to E.ON Moldova's distribution grid and another tothe grid of Electrica Distribuţie Transilvania Nord.
