Companies operating in the field of electricity distribution,and particularly those that have been privatised, last year reachednet income margins of around 40%, much higher than the onesregistered by companies operating in the field of mobile telephonyor cement, traditional leaders in terms of profitability.
Moreover, according to a ranking sent by the National Office of theTrade Registry, it was the same energy companies and especiallythose in the field of electricity last year sat on piles ofcash.
Sums registered for the cash at bank and in hand indicator in 2009stood at hundreds of million euros, with available cash being muchhigher than the one accumulated by Dacia, Romgaz orNuclearelectrica.
On the other hand, though, state-owned electricity distributorshave margins of between 2-4%, below those reported by electricitydistributors now included in private portfolios.
