Metal tiles sales were mainly driven by the renovation segmentthis year, considering that the lack of access to financing hascaused the number of new buildings to decline, say metal tilesmanufacturers, reports Business Construct magazine, whose nextissue will appear with Ziarul Financiar on Thursday.

Four roofs out of five have been installed for old homes thisyear in Romania, after the building market has undergone a secondyear of decline, with owners of older homes now finding the rightmoment to invest in a roof, although some prices went up amid anincrease in the price of steel.
"According to our estimates, which are based on sales recorded sofar, and considering the parameters tightly connected to newbuildings - sales recorded on the brick and concrete segment -around 85% of the market was accounted for by sales for renovationprojects of existing buildings, and 15% of sales for new buildings. This proportion has to do both with the current economic context, and with the fact that it has been quite a while since thehomeowners invested in building the house and the roof alreadyneeds repairing," said Zoltan Szoke, business unit manager of RuukiRomania and Bulgaria, in charge of the roof segment.
