Interamerican Romania's volume of underwritten premiums from general and life insurance went up by around 30% in the first half of the year (H1), to 36.7 million RON (11 million euros), against January-July 2006. The life insurance segment saw a 21% increase and reached gross underwritten premiums worth 16.5 million RON (5 million euros). Gross underwritten premiums from general insurance stood at 20.2 million RON (6 million euros), up 36% against the first six months of 2006. "The growth was primarily sustained by the car sector, which registered a 27% increase in underwritten premiums against the same time last year," reads the release. According to company data, life insurance experienced the highest growth rate in the first six months of the year (202%) amid the expansion in Medisystem's network of medical facilities.
