The La Mama restaurant chain, held by businessman Catalin Mahu, will expand its network by at least three new restaurants this year, while the Cafepedia coffee shop network, owned by the same shareholder, will open another six coffee shops, following investments worth 2 million euros. In order to support network expansion, Trotter Restaurant, the company that manages the coffee shops and restaurants, will hire 400 people this year, with the current number of employees standing at 500. Currently, the company operates six La Mama restaurants in Bucharest, one in Mamaia (with seasonal opening times), and two Cafepedia coffee shops. Trotter Restaurant has budgeted a business worth 12 million euros for this year, up 50% against 2007 when it reported turnover worth 8 million euros. The increase comes amid the expansion of the restaurant and coffee shop network.
