Linklaters: 5 big projects are sufficient

04.06.2007, 19:36 5

"Our aim is not to see a large growth. We do not want to be the biggest firm, and we do not need 50 projects. Five important projects are sufficient so as to not waste our resources on an excessive number of projects. If you deal with too much work, you risk losing standards," stated Theodore Cominos, managing partner of Linklaters, Miculiti, Mihai & Asociatii.
Cominos, a 38-year American, has been in Romania for 10 years and previously worked for the Burns Schwartz law firm. In 2000 he came to Linklaters, where he became a partner in 2005 and took over as manager of the local office in May this year. Cominos replaced Michael Tetrault Schilling, who took over regional operations.
Linklaters is one of the largest international law firms, with its network of 30 offices in 23 countries being a prolific provider of clients for the domestic office.
"We have Korean and Portuguese clients who work with our offices in their respective countries. When they come to Romania on business, they choose our services. We also have Romanian clients who have expanded their operations abroad, and who choose Linklaters," says Cominos.
Linklaters, the international law firm with the most active presence in Romania, counts among its clients ING, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, JP Morgan and Vodafone, as well as companies such as UTI and Gecad.
The market of law firms in Romania is still dominated by domestic companies, such as NNDKP, Tuca Zbarcea, Musat, Popovici, Stoica, and Bostina, with Linklaters being the only international company ranking among the top five players on the market.
