Maserati in Romania: 3 cars sold, 5 more to go!

04.03.2003, 00:00 5

Less than two months since the official opening of its showroom in Bucharest, AutoItalia, Maserati importer in Romania, has already sold three Maserati cars.
"The target for this year's Maserati sales is eight units. We have already sold three, although we have not even officially launched this model on the market yet, therefore we have attained more than one third of our target," Herbert Stein, AutoItalia chairman said. If sales keep this pace, then the importer could sell nearly twice more than its 2003 target by yearend.
A Maserati Coupe (the three units sold were all Coupe) costs 71,000 euros (CIP price). Excises and VAT added, the price reaches about 100,000 euros.
"The first car will ship in March," Stein said. He declined comment on the buyers of the three Maseratis. The company representatives say the cars made by the Italian group take three months to reach the buyers, if the car is not in stock.
"Whoever buys a Maserati wants to personalise it. They want a certain colour, a certain interior, so that it is highly unlikely that such a car would be in stock. There are two million options for the car's colour alone," the AutoItalia officials added.
The investment in the Maserati showroom in the Dorobanti area took more than 200,000 euros to complete, the company representatives said Its structure was similar to that of any other Maserati showroom in the world, they added.
More than seventy cars whose CIP price amounted to more than 70,000 euros were sold on the Romanian market last year. x
