Most valuable companies in Romania

Petrom, Fondul Proprietatea and Hidroelectrica are leading inthe Top 100 most valuable companies in Romania 2010 ranking, thefifth edition of the yearbook published by Ziarul Financiar. Theranking is drawn up together with Capital Partners investmentfirm.


Petrom, Fondul Proprietatea and Hidroelectrica are the mostvaluable companies in 2010, with a market value of 4.5bn euros,3.8bn euros and 3.35bn euros respectively, whereas in 2009 the topthree positions were held by Petrom, Orange and FondulProprietatea.
Energy companies have thus won the leading positions in theranking, considering the value of Fondul Proprietatea is primarilybased on its stakes in energy companies.
The ranking was put together at the initiative of Ziarul Financiar,in 2006, jointly with Capital Partners, one of the biggestindependent M&A and funding consultancies in Romania.
The purpose of publishing the ranking is to get a picture of thetrend of the value of companies in Romania every year.
The most spectacular increase, from 169m euros in 2009, to 447meuros this year, was registered by Cluj mobile phone plantNokia.
This year, there are eight new entrants in the ranking, of whichfive manufacturing companies (Arctic-electrical home appliances,Holzindustrie-wood prefabricates, Johnson Controls, ContinentalAutomotive, Pirelli-car parts). A&D Pharma, Romstrade(constructions, controlled by Nelu Iordache), Groupama (insurance)also joined the ranking.
