Most visited cities in Romania

"In Bucharest, a little more than one million nights spent incategorised accommodation units were registered", NationalStatistics Institute (INS) representatives say.


At ZF's request, the Institute sent data related to the numberof tourists registered in Romania's biggest cities, such asBucharest, Constanţa, Braşov, Timişoara, Cluj-Napoca and Iaşi. Byedition close, the institution did not send data linked to thenumber of visitors of Sibiu, a major touristic barometer forRomania.
Each tourist that arrived in Bucharest booked one or twoaccommodation nights in January-July period. The Bucharest marketcan accommodate 12,400 in hotel rooms, according to a survey byTrend Hospitality. Bucharest hotels may have generated 47m euros inthe first seven months of the year, according to ZF estimates.Revenues are largely derived from business travel.
While Bucharest leads in terms of the number of arrivals and spentnights, amid business traffic, Constanţa ranks second, but becauseit receives tourists on holiday.
Only Braşov and Bucharest received more tourists than last year.Another two cities analysed by ZF, Cluj-Napoca and Timişoara,attracted fewer tourists in January-July period.
