The unexpected resignation of the general manager of theNational Company of Motorways and National Roads in Romania(CNADNR), Liviu Costache, has once again brought to light the lackof continuity and the problems facing the institution that has 1.5to 2 billion euros a year at its disposal to build motorways andnational roads, which, however, fail to emerge on Romania's roadinfrastructure map.

Costache was appointed to the helm of CNADNR in September lastyear, shortly after Anca Boagiu took over as transportation andinfrastructure minister. He replaced Dorina Tiron, who wasdismissed by Boagiu after a check that revealed the CNADNRmanagement had been faulty.

Costache had been manager in charge of coordinating motorwayprojects within CNADNR, a position he will keep, according torepresentatives of the institution.
The interim manager will be Daniela Drăghia, who is currentlydeputy general manager for projects with external funding withinthe institution.
Liviu Costache could not be contacted by the time this issue wasready for print to comment on his decision to stay on in CNADNR,but in a lower position.
