Mutual funds witnessed an 8% rise in total assets in September, to approximately 152 million euros (533 million RON), against the 140.7 million euros (496 million RON) posted in late August, according to the National Union of Collective Placement Bodies (UNOPC). As of the beginning of the year, mutual funds' assets have grown by some 65%.
The growth in assets was supported by surges on the Stock Exchange, as well as by new investments carried out last month.
Last month mutual funds posted an average growth of 2.9% in fund units. Equity funds and diversified funds witnessed the biggest increases, posting yields ranging between 1.6% and 5.8%, whereas monetary funds and funds investing in bonds didn't perform as well, posting an average yield of less than 1%.
Net capital inflow exceeded 6.3 million euros (22 million RON) in September, reaching the highest level since January.
In August, mutual funds posted net outflows amounting to some 2.5 million euros (8.8 million RON). The number of investors went up by 855 in September, topping 75.500.
The total net investment in monetary funds and funds investing in bond surpassed investment in diversified and equity funds, for the first time this year.
Over the first nine months of the year, net investments in the mutual funds market amounted to 25 million euros (over 86 million RON).
Diversified and equity funds managed to attract net investments worth over 32 million euros (114 million RON), while funds investing in bonds posted net inflows amounting to 3.1 million euros (11 million RON).
Monetary funds, which have proven less attractive for investors because of low yields, posted net outflows worth 10.8 million euros (38 million RON) in the January - September period.
The Mutual Funds Index (IFM), calculated by Intercapital, has witnessed a 3.5% rise over the first nine months of the year, and an 8.3% increase on last year. The average growth of mutual funds managed to exceed the rate of inflation which stood at 2.8% in the first nine months of the year, and at 5.5% last year.
