Patriciu’s and Tiriac Jr.’s economy rebooting proposals to the IMF

The IMF on Wednesday had a meeting with five Romanianbusinesspeople, members of the Association of RomanianBusinesspeople (AOAR), including Dinu Patriciu and Ion AlexandruTiriac, who were asked to talk about the problems they're copingwith and voice their own proposals to restart the economy. Whilethe son of former tennis player Ion Tiriac believes the meeting was"cooperative and productive", Patriciu says that "did we send themhome (the IMF delegation), we would stand to gain a lot," because"the IMF is a handicap". "One of my proposals is that all thestate's minority stakes, owned through AVAS or RA-APPS to be put upfor sale. (…)," Ion Alexandru Tiriac told ZF. Dinu Patriciu alsotalked about the sale of some assets, saying he believes efforts todraw in foreign investments and European funds need to be steppedup and the tax base has to be broadened. On the other hand,Patriciu talked about the need to change Romanian politicians'mentality, a change in the lack of which the economy cannotrecover.
