Enrico Perini, the majority shareholder of Romstal Group, acompany with an over 250 million-euro annual turnover, which holdsthe Autoklass dealership network, has dropped sales of Ford cars.As of August 1st, imports of the American brand were officiallytaken over by Ford Romania from Romcar, which is part of ŢiriacHoldings. This meant all 36 Ford dealers that were part of theRomcar network had to sign a new contract with Ford Romania inorder to continue their business.
"Because many of the clauses of the new contract were unacceptablein a business partnership as far as we were concerned, we tried tonegotiate them. The negotiations resulted in a slightly differentcontract from the one we were originally proposed, so Autoklassfound it inconvenient to sign the new contract," said DragoşFurtună, marketing manager of Autoklass. According to him, thedecision to drop both Ford's sales and service stands as long asthe contract clauses remain unmodified.
Autoklass posted a 50 million-euro turnover last year from the saleof Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge in Bucharest,Ploieşti, Constanţa and Sibiu. Apart from Autoklass, another sixdealers have yet to sign the new sales contract with Ford Romania.
