Petrom fleet could be managed by Porsche Mobility

25.10.2006, 18:40 21

Porsche Mobility, the car fleet management unit of the Porsche group, is in talks to take over the management of the fleet of Petrom, Romania's biggest company. "At present, we are in talks with Petrom to take over the management of its fleet. We currently manage the fleets of Vodafone mobile telephony operator, owning a fleet of 140 cars, and of Cosmote," stated Costin Rotaru, the general manager of Porsche Mobility. Petrom's representatives could not be contacted for comment.
Porsche Mobility currently manages some 700 cars for which it provides maintenance services at a fixed rate, calculated depending on the car brand and type of engine, the period and the number of kilometres travelled, and at a variable rate, based on consumption. Thus, depending on these criteria, the fixed monthly rate for maintenance ranges between 46 and 104 euros.
In parallel with fleet management, Porsche Mobility also provides fuel consumption management for around 400 cars.
"For this type of services, we've signed contracts with MOL and OMV filling station networks, and a card system named OMV Routex-Porsche Mobility and MOL-Porsche Mobility was also developed," added Rotaru.
Porsche Mobility also plans to include in its portfolio customers owning fleets made up of cars that were not delivered by Porsche Romania dealers importing Audi, Skoda, Seat, Volkswagen and Porsche brands. "We also want to manage fleets that were not entirely acquired from Porsche Romania, but we must first reach an agreement with the car servicing centres the other dealers have countrywide," said Rotaru.
Porsche Mobility is the fifth company of the Porsche group to enter the domestic market, after the importer Porsche Romania, Porsche Leasing, Porsche Bank and Porsche Broker de Asigurare.
"The idea of setting up a fleet management unit came up in 2004, but the project was postponed until 2005 amid the launch of Porsche Bank," said Rotaru.
Beside fleet management, the new company also offers financing systems through operational leasing, with these activities being sustained by the bank part of the group.
"Financing is secured by Porsche Bank, which has made a credit line worth 5m euros available to us," stated Rotary.
He says that, as in the case of the other similar companies operating on the market, the first customers of Porsche Mobility were multinationals, which were used to resorting to this product in other countries. Porsche Mobility also provides buy-back services to the customers whose fleets it manages, through Weltauto, the used car unit.
The fleet management market also includes ALD Automotive, Sixt New Kopel, Fleet Management Services and APP Finance.
