Plaza Romania, over 90% booked

28.06.2004, 00:00 9

With the addition of Zara apparel shop and the Movieplex cinema, the second mall in Bucharest, Plaza Romania has more than 90% of the available retail space rented. The new mall, held by Turkish Anchor Grup, will be dedicated in October, although the initial project has gone through several adjustments so that it could include the multiplex and the Zara shop, as explained by Anchor Grup's chief executive Ali Ergun Ergen. "The original plans for Plaza Romania portrayed it to be a 30% smaller building than the 100,000 sqm built so far. The last minute demands to provide much larger space than initially envisioned had us redo the design of the building several times," Ergen said. "We also had to expand the building to accommodate Movieplex' 11 screens and redo the space allocated to Zara a month ago. All these changes, besides space expansion and improvements, have affected the critical progress of the construction and for a while we feared we would not be able to open on schedule," Anchor Grup's head said.
