The Tengelmann group, owner of the Plus Discount store network, is holding talks with several competitors, to sell its Romanian-based stores, but has not yet decided whether to exit the market or not, representatives of the German retailer told ZF. According to the news portal just-food.com, one of the companies interested in taking over Plus Discount stores on the local market is Carrefour, the retailer which entered the supermarket segment in Romania this year, by taking over the Artima network. Plus Discount is currently rethinking its strategy outside Germany, with one of its options being the sale of its stores. Recently, Tesco and Rewe retailers have each bid 250 million euros for purchasing the 145-store Plus Discount network in the Czech Republic, according to Thomson Merger News.
