Sales of Porsche cars are poised for a 72% jump this year, compared with 2006, up to some 12.7 million euros. The German brand's officials have revised their 2007 estimates upwards, up to 150 units, more than 15.3% above the original target set early this year. "The target revision was made following the launch of the new Cayenne generation. The Cayenne model will account for 66% of the 150 units we estimate to sell this year," said George Moisescu, Porsche brand manager with Porsche Romania. In the first ten months of the year, the sales of Porsche cars on the local market are estimated at 130 units, a level that matches the original estimates for the entire year, according to Porsche Romania officials. The company's local sales this year may reach 12.75 million euros. The cheapest Porsche is the Boxter, which starts at 41,486 euros (VAT not included), whereas the most expensive is the 911 GT2 - 177,481 euros. According to Porsche Romania forecasts, the sales of Porsche cars on the domestic market will grow by some 15% annually in the following years. "This year's almost 100% boom was due to the launch of the Cayenne model, which accounts for a significant share of the sales. In the following years, growth will stabilise at 15%," Moisescu stated.
