The 30 biggest contracts awarded by the National Motorways andNational Roads Company in Romania (CNADNR) in the past four yearsare worth a total of nearly 1.7 billion euros, but only eight ofthem, worth more than 400 million euros were for works on motorwaysor on bypasses. Over this period, CNADNR had nearly 9 billion eurosat its disposal.
The bulk of contracts that the institution sealed between 2007 and2010 entail modernising or rehabilitation of national roads, aswell as multi-annual maintenance of the road network in severalcounties.
In fact, the most valuable contract attributed by CNADNR duringthis period was the one for the modernisation of a 148-kilometresection of national road 67C between Bengeşti and Sebeş, a contractamounting to nearly 335 million euros.
2010 was the slowest year in terms of contracts awarded by thenational motorways and roads company, with just one contractstanding out in terms of value, at nearly 180 million eurosexcluding VAT. In fact, this was the only contract for the buildingof a proper motorway awarded last year, won by a partnershipbetween Strabag and Straco Grup.
