Romtelecom in search of a head for the TV unit, an over 40m-euro business

Romtelecom, one of Romania's biggest communications operators,is looking for a new head for its TV services unit, a businessworth above 40m euros per year, after Miroslaw Smyk, the currentmanager, decided to leave the company on July 1, telecom marketsources told ZF. Romtelecom representatives confirmed theinformation, without providing any further details. "We're carryingout a recruitment process," said the company's representatives.Miroslaw Smyk, 31, is the manager who has led, since December 2007,Romtelecom's strong expansion on the domestic TV services marketand prepared the launch of IPTV and HD TV services. During histerm, the company gained almost 500,000 clients on the satellite TVsegment and came to hold the third position on this market. He wasalso in charge with "building" offers and keeping them profitablein spite of tough market competition. The new head of Romtelecom'sTV operations will have the task to drive the company onto theleading position in around three years. He will also haveRomtelecom's cable TV strategy on his agenda. Moreover, he willhave to outline Romtelecom's strategy on the TV market once Romaniashifts from analogue to digital television in 2012.
