Sandero production down by over 50%

Automobile Dacia has cut production of theSandero model by nearly 60% in October, to around 7,400 cars,according to statistics of the Automotive Manufacturers andImporters Association (APIA). This is the third month in a rowwhere production of the B-segment model launched at the GenevaMotor Show in 2008 falls by more than 40%, the biggest declinerecorded by a Dacia model, compared with Logan, whose productionhas fallen gradually over the last few years, as new models werelaunched. On the Romanian market Sandero is the Dacia model withthe lowest sales, being left behind ten months into the year evenby the Duster SUV launched in May. With the car scrappage schemescarried in France and Germany last year, production of Sandero hita record high of 18,200 units per month, out of a total of 36,400vehicles. On the German market the model was advertised as the"5,000-euro car", considering the 2,500-euro scrappage bonus,selling over 30,000 units last year, out of a total of 85,000, withthe rest being accounted for by Logan saloon and Logan MCV.
