Good financial results and the perspective of obtaining dividends propelled the shares of the five SIFs (Financial Investment Companies) in the top of the ten most traded shares of this year.
SIF Transilvania is leading the top, since it is deemed by capital market operators as holding the best portfolio, although it has not posted the highest profit level.
As for the quotation level, during the last trading session on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, investors were willing to pay 11 percent more as compared to the beginning of the year, that is 660 lei. However, the increase cannot be considered real because it was exceeded by the inflation rate.
Stocks of drugmaker Terapia Cluj Napoca and Banca Transilvania rank second. These companies enjoyed the interest of Stock Exchange players due to sound financial results and to share capital increases operated this year.
Free shares were granted following these capital increases, which partly accounted for the high liquidity of transactions. As a matter of fact, the two companies, together with Alro, hold more than half the total bourse capitalisation.
Even though share capital increases benefited Terapia and Banca Transilvania shares from the liquidity point of view, they had a negative impact on the price evolution. Therefore, Terapia price level shed 23 percent as compared to the beginning of the year.
The most profitable financial investment company this year was SIF Banat-Crisana, which posted 250.5 billion lei in profit on the first eleven months of the year. The company ranks seventh in the above-mentioned top, but posts the most spectacular price increase, from 400 lei to 630 lei.
Alro shares benefited from a very good trading period after the shares were split (in September), but lost ground by the end of the year, when deferred privatisation and the decision of investments funds to stop acquisitions considerably affected the stock's liquidity.
