Sinterom wants to supply parts for Logan

31.08.2004, 00:00 7

Sinterom Cluj has invested more than 10bn ROL over the last two years to integrate its production capacity into manufacturing processes for the new Dacia Logan model.

The company is already supplying three products for Dacia Logan, to Auto Nova (Satu Mare) and UAMT (Oradea). The products are used in the brake systems and the windscreen wipers for the new model built in Pitesti. "We've got three more products pending certification. The first two batches will be presented early in September and the third in late November," Marcel Leonte, Sinterom general manager told ZF Transilvania.

The management hopes to see the monthly output volume that goes to the Dacia plant increase from the current 1.7bn ROL to at least 5bn ROL by 2006. "Sinterom can fill the entire production needs for 200,000 Logans; to go above this figure requires investments of $1.6 million (54bn ROL), " Leonte added.

At present, the company is expecting Renault's certification for two parts. Until certification is granted, the respective parts, for the first Logans to be launched on the Romanian market early in September, will be imported.

"Our co-operation with the Dacia Group accounts for 20% of turnover of our company's sintered parts factory and for 8% of Sinterom's total sales. The development of our relationship with the Logan is our most important long-term goal," Marcel Leonte explained. He hopes the company he runs will become a supplier for the entire Renault Group by 2005.

Sinterom has been supplying parts (30 products) for all Dacia models since 1970.
