Sun Plaza mall opening, pushed back to 2010

27.08.2009, 18:16 19

The developers of the biggest shopping centre in southern Bucharest, Sun Plaza, decided to postpone the opening of the mall again, for the spring of 2010, after having aggressively promoted the opening in recent months, announcing 29 October as a definite date. Thus, exactly two months before the announced opening, Sparkassen Immobilien and EMCT companies, developers of the 200m-euro mall in Bucharest's Berceni district, are delaying the opening of the centre. Several retailers that signed contracts with Sun Plaza told ZF the postponement was expected given the state construction works are in. Sun Plaza's biggest tenants include Cora, BauMax, Mobexpert and Flanco. The mall has an 80,000-sqm lettable area, including an office building to be delivered subsequently. By yearend, only AFI Palace Cotroceni Mega Mall on Timisoara boulevard, with a lettable area of around 76,000 square metres, will be opened.
