Third wave of increases on the Stock Exchange

13.04.2010, 19:49 4
The shares of small or less liquid companies have been themost profitable investments on the Stock Exchange in the last monthand a half, after blue chips have been the first to recover lastyear, while the stars of the beginning of the year were the sharesof medium-sized companies such as Dafora and Biofarm. The increasesof "small" shares can be a sign that liquid shares have lost theirappeal for the time being.
In the last month and a half the shares of Aerostar Bacau(ARS) doubled on the Stock Exchange, and another 10 shares rose byover 50% in the same period. Brokers say the increases are purelyspeculative and come as a result of the loss of interest in themost liquid shares. Despite the significant rises that can fetchsimilarly high profits, there are also disadvantages when it comesto the acquisition of such shares.

"Usually after investors are done with liquid shares, such asthose of financial companies or those included in the BET index, they turn their attention to less liquid shares, and now is theturn of shares with extremely low trading volumes. The biggestdisadvantage of these shares is that investors risk to be left withtheir money blocked if they don't sell at the right time,"explained Mihai Muresian, a trader with Intercapital Invest.
