Traian Vuia airport of Timisoara logged turnover worth 9.4 million RON (2.65 million euros) in the first half of this year, up 11.2% against the similar period of 2005.
"Air traffic and financial indicators of the airport registered the same positive values during the January-June period as in the recent years. This was made possible by the launch of new destinations, the rising number of operating frequencies of established airlines and the higher number of airlines operating on the market," stated Carmen Stoica, PR manager with Traian Vuia international airport of Timisoara. With total expenses standing at 8.45 million RON (2.38 million euros) in the first six months of 2006, the airport of Timisoara generated income worth 1.15 million RON (0.34 million euros), namely 12.28 percent of turnover.
The performance of Timisoara airport is also reflected in the 19% growth in passenger traffic in the first half, with the airport processing 321,451 passengers.
"As regards air traffic, there were modifications both in terms of offered destinations, and operating frequencies (...)," says Stoica.
The airport of Timisoara is a Romanian regional airport where most airlines that are active or not on the Romanian market plan to introduce new international flights.
