Companies are reluctant to embark upon large projects and preferto focus on the acquisition of equipment and services that shouldoptimise those already started, Marius Tulea, general manager ofCrescendo, a provider of IT services, solutions and applications, with 18.4m-euro turnover last year, told ZF.

"As the crisis has deepened, clients have no longer invested inmajor projects, but preferred to handle the current ones andmaintain them. The tendency maintains," says Tulea, 43, at the helmof Crescendo for 11 years.
The company last year saw its turnover go down by 6% in euros, from19.6m euros in 2008 to 18.4m euros last year, but rise in RON from72 to 78 million. Tulea explained the increase was due to theexistence of several contracts with a large services weight. Also, the company's income rose to 1.8m euros from 1.3m euros in2008.
As for the contracts with the state, Tulea maintains they accountfor less than 5% in the company's turnover. "Contracts with thestate did not go beyond 15% in our growth years, either. Had wecounted on the relationship with the state, we would have faredworse", he said.
