Universul printery for sale for $3m

24.06.2003, 00:00 10

Universul Bucharest printery was put up for sale by its majority shareholders, three individuals, through a public offering worth approximately $3 million on RASDAQ. The stake offered accounts for 84.96% in the company and the price asked by the current owners is 46,700 ROL/share. The offering began at the end of last week and will stand for two months, true to the "all or nothing" model. The price might go up in case the offer is oversubscribed. Universul is a newspaper printery, but no major player on the market. By mid last year, it was posting 13.34bn ROL (some $400,000) turnover and 1.9bn ROL net profit. The stake of acquiring the company is neither its position on the printery market nor its technology, but the land and the buildings it owns, market sources say. Universul owns 4,000 sqm of land in downtown Bucharest and buildings totalling more than 14,000 sqm. "We see the sale of Universul as more of a real estate than a printing-related deal," the manager of one of the leading printing companies in Romania commented. ZF
