Angst, one of the main players on the local charcuterie market, will expand its network by nine stores this year, four of which will be located in Bucharest. The company currently owns 23 stores, 18 of which are in Bucharest, two in Buftea, one in Otopeni, one in Sinaia and one other in Cluj.
"We will make investments worth a total 5 million euros. Out of the nine stores, we intend six of them to be small, convenience stores, with a 100 square-metre surface area, and three to have a surface area of 350 square metres each," said Stefan Padure, the company's sales manager.
As regards the four stores in Bucharest, two of them will have a 100sqm surface area, whilst the other two will cover 350 square metres. "We intend to purchase at least two of the nine stores, with the rest to be opened in rented spaces," said Padure.
The producer has recently opened one store in Bucharest, spreading on 800 square metres. It takes up three floors and only sells varieties of meat. "We invested one million euros just in the construction of this store, as we wanted to provide something different from what the market currently offers," stated Padure.
The sales manager of Angst stated that part of the 5 million-euro investments would be directed towards renovating the already existing stores.
In 2006, Angst reported financial results standing at 50 million euros, with a 25% increase in charcuterie sales against the previous year when it had only made 40 million euros. According to Angst representatives, the meat market saw a 15% increase last year.
"The sales increase was prompted by the intensified product research and development operations, and by the expansion of our store network," explained Stefan Padure.
According to the Angst official, 40% of the company's sales are made through its stores, 30% through international store chains, with the rest of the production destined for hotels and restaurants.
