27.07.2010, 23:10 6

Mandatory home insurance has had a bad start: almost two weeksafter its launch, half of companies members of the DisasterInsurance Pool (PAID) are not issuing policies in all the agenciesand units as they lack the necessary IT system. ZF has randomlycontacted an agency or two from each of the 13 insurers part ofPAID, with the intention of sealing an insurance policy. In thecase of half of these agencies answers to the question "can I seala mandatory home insurance policy with you?" were as follows: "theIT system is not functional", "contact us again in several days" or"we don't have the necessary forms". Seven insurers part of PAID,Astra, Generali, City Insurance, Platinum, Credit Europe, ABCAsigurări and Certasig, issue policies on the spot, according tostatements by employees of the agencies contacted by ZF. However, each insurer requests different documents. The insurance costs 10or 20 euros per annum, depending on the materials homes are madefrom, and the insured sum stands at 10,000 and respectively 20,000euros per annum.
