Dedeman opens store in Severin, next to Cora and prepares for Baia Mare expansion

DIY and decorations retailer Dedeman, controlled by businessmenAdrian and Dragoş Pavăl in Bacău, will open a store at the end ofthis week (April 15th) in Drobeta Turnu-Severin, close to Corahypermarket, and has started recruitment for a new store, whichwill open in Baia Mare.

The Severin store will be the second investment completed by thecompany this year after the Cluj store and the company's 23rdstore, with the chain approaching the size of the biggest chain,Praktiker, which has 27 stores.

In terms of sales, the two companies switched places as no.1 andno.2 on the DIY market, with Dedeman sales up 40% to 360 millioneuros, while Praktiker posted 22% lower sales, to 193.6 millioneuros.

The opening of the Dedeman store at the end of this week inDrobeta Turnu-Severin will see the development of another shoppingarea, with the town boasting a spectacular development of retailover the past year.

While Carrefour and Bricostore opened stores within EuropeanRetail Park, developed by Belgium's BelRom, now a Dedeman storewill open next to Carrefour, as part of a recipe already tested onthe Romanian market, with DIY stores most often being opened nextto hypermarkets.
